Did you know that California is home to some of the most beautiful and diverse trout subspecies in the United States? Sculpting each unique characteristic of the 11 native subspecies is a story of evolutionary struggle and adaptation, a story that one can only truly understand through the tug on a line.
In this book, you will find a chapter set aside for each of the 11 native trout subspecies. Each chapter will begin with a brief overview of the subspecies and their indigenous waters. I will then identify specific locations to target, including area maps, directions, and trail descriptions. Concluding each chapter will be a record of my personal experiences and a collection of the unusual tactics and tips I picked up along the way.
